Born: June 19, 1978
Home Town: York, SC
Craig grew up in a small home in the country where he spent his youth hunting and playing sports. It wasn't until the age of 10 that he became interested in playing guitar. His father had been in a touring band years before but by the time Craig was interested in learning guitar,
those days were gone and the only instrument left in the house was an old Martin accoustic. While his brother Jimmy was already playing the bass and playing with other bands, Craig sat at home and asked his father to teach him how to play.
It wasn't long before he had the
basics of rhythm playing down, but quickly grew tiresome of learning the songs his father was teaching him. Those songs were "oldies" to Craig and he was more into the modern rock of that time. As his musical endeavors developed, his tastes also changed to the more darker, aggressive side of music known then as "Metal".
With bands like Metallica, Kreator, Megadeth, Pantera, and others shaping his tastes it was not long before his guitar playing began to become heavier. He began listening to cassettes and the radio along with reading tabliture books and guitar magazines to teach himself how to play guitar his way.
In 1997 Craig
joined the Air Force and served around the world until 2003 when he was honorably discharged and moved to Charleston SC. A few years later his brother approached him with an idea to start a band together. Craig had never been in a band before this time, and had only jammed with his brother on rare occasions. Hesitantly he
thought it over and decided to give it a shot, and OverDrive was born.
Craig brings to the table his heavier style of music with the ability to mesh well with other influences in the band, but not always without butting heads. Since joining the band he has been pushed to the limits of his playing and song writing abilities
and continues to strive for perfection in all the music he creates so that when you hear OverDrive, you hear perfection.
Craig still plays that old Martin Accoustic he grew up learing on.
